Tropical storm watch issued for a 220-mile stretch of the Gulf Coast

The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm watch from Apalachicola to Cedar Key, with landfall expected late Wednesday.

Emergency managers in four counties opened sandbag distribution sites and pre-positioned high-water rescue vehicles.

Rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches are forecast, with isolated amounts near 9 inches east of the center.

The 68–30 vote sets up final passage later this week, with road, bridge and rural broadband funding at the center of the bill.
